The color of the threads leads me to believe this has been dyed black.

Indeed from here it looks like this hat has been dyed and I am not excited about it either, it does has "that uncomfortable look". Are the thread/stitching color inside of folds(let say on the very bottom of folds) of the same color as the thread color outside? Can you post a close-up of inside thread as you showed it on this picture:
