Seems to start with a 'W'?

It sure is SS. Check out the whole picture. It's taken in Lemberg may 1943.

And Robin you're right, very difficult to say, if not impossible.

It doesn't (to my eyes) seem to have a 'd' on the end ... I'd almost say it was a 'g' instead and judging by the scale I'd say 'Wiking'.

It sure does look a little bit like wallonien, but I doubt it... Wiking could also be possible, I only miss the 'ng' on the end.

There is a reflection off the letters making it look bigger, I agree with Bob, I think Wiking is the best bet. Nice picture, reminds me of Band of Brothers bad luck to get lost on a fast horse.

Thanks Bob, I agree. The only thing that bothers me is that in the 2nd letter I 'clearly' see an A?

There's a lot of double-up on that image ... look at the borders for example.

Dont think its Wiking there are too many extra letters especially at the very end,and there is something before the W,this is one were not thinking of or an oddball name or pattern.

this could be a blur the top looks like 2 silver stripes are there, its thick like a title placed overanother but just below but the rest of shot isnt,can we see the picture blown up {whole shot}wont upload for me,this is bugging me as to what this really is.
