The authentic ss skull

How do I recognize the authentic ss skull (the metal cap badge)? How do I distinguish fake from real?
I want to be sure that I'm gettin' the real thing when I start to look for one.

Hi Rolly,

There is really only one way. You must be able to examine some real ones in the flesh and compare them with some of the best reproductions to learn the differences and to learn what to look for. Pictures, rules, bad signs, correct markings, etc., help, but they cannot teach you what can only be learned from close comparison with pieces in the flesh. That takes time and experience.
You should read through all of the threads on all forums that you can find.
There is a lot that can be learned throughout the forums. If possible, get pictures of an item that you are interested in, and post them on one of the forums so that you can get opinions from others before you purchase one.
Be patient! Real ones are extremely hard to find but they are out there.
