It would have been wonderful to have both patterns of eagles on SS berets, in one collection. I had even made room for it, which is now filled with a kepi. Oh well, now I can buy the Westland assault gunner tunic that I have always lusted for.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

      Bob,
Nothing to do with panzer berets but I was intrigued by the kepi shown in your photograph. I have one of these early pre-1929 pattern hats and they are extremely scarce items. I wondered if you could perhaps post a couple of pictures of it.

Once again the SOS seems to ooze one of these out of the woodwork. I don't know how many saw it, but I can attest to the fact that it appears near identical to Bob Hritz's beret and features textbook zig zag stitching of the insignia. The insignia is of the off white variety and the skull is a big nose variant. The beret also had an SS name tag under the sweatband. It was brought in by a collector who traded it to another.

There was one beret eagle loose, but it has been on an online catalog for quite some time too. You can see it in another thread posted by someone else with other cloth for sale at the show.
