Hello,
I'm glad to announce that the mystery of zinc-made die-struck late Assmann skull, featuring three prongs on the edge, has been finally solved!
Below I'm presenting photos of a TK which was found with metal detector by my dear wife some 2 weeks ago. We were really concerned seeing no maker marks and these strange prongs. Being not a specialist in Totenkopfs myself, I decided to look deeper into WAF archive in a hope to find the answer to this skull. In a result, I found the following threads:
1. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=262718
2. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=231018
3. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=165732
What's most exciting to me, I found out the argument going on about these particular kind of skull. Some members, incl. Bob Hritz and besslein, were amongst the supporters of the skull's originality, whilst the bunch of others considered it to be a post-war fake. And Mr.Brad bwanek1, who initially agreed for the late war production theory, later changed his mind.
Well, I do hope it's a good opportunity to change your minds again. I may only assure that this skull is 100% original. It was found together with numerous other genuine German cloth insignia (mostly Hitlerjugend) and lots of Reichspfennig coins, in the area where the Germans retreated in early 1945 (today Poland).
Btw. Late September is a lucky period for me. A year ago I found a... Latvian aluminium skull. Cool
Let me note, that I have no personal connections to any of the dealers. I'm just a person who likes to reveal true history with my showel and a little help of electronic devices, luck and intuition And again my hobby led me to an interesting discovery. Hope you collectors find it helpful, too!
Best regards,
Michal
