I've been going crazy trying to determine whether an SS Officer Wire
bevo eagle that a gun show dealer has had for a long time could be original. I've taken photos with me from the forum of originals and fakes
and tried to match it up. If it's a fake,it looks very close to original. It is
silver or aluminum wire, very shiny, on a very thin blue-black silk material.
The dealer will not commit one way or the other as to originality. He says
that he obtained it from a friend who was a collector. Until I own it, I have no idea if the silk burns or melts. The price is $35.00. The last thing
that I bought from him was a goofy looking SS eagle for $40.00 that I
could not find any reference to but turned out to be a reitz eagle from
pictures posted on the forum. From the description of the eagle,is it worth a $35.00 gamble?
