    Unusual cufftitle "HJ Div."

A friend just found this foto at a fleamarket - is this a privately made, or official one? Never seen or heard of those existing.

This photo gets around. First it was in a collection, now in a flea market.

One subject that we haven't broached on this forum, particularly about photos, is how they may have been doctored. During the war they used to air brush portraits, putting on Knight's Crosses, updating ranks, etc. And since then I've heard about era photos being doctored so that fake insignia could be sold by certain dealers, not to mention this insignia being sewn on uniforms and then photographed and doctored to make it look TR era.

I have two autographed photos of Knight's Cross recipient Mohnke. Both are identical except the rank. Originally taken when his rank was SS-Standartenfuhrer, the other photo has been modified with two additional oakleaves to bring his rank up to SS-Brigadefuhrer.

Interesting comparison. It alomost looks like they've cut the image of the collar tabs from a different photo and then pasted them on the older shot.

Here's a photo I that I suspect to be either doctored or an out-right posed fake.
Maybe I'm wrong, but my gut feeling is something is not right about it.

I just bought a lot of 40 period photos off ebay, they all look great
but one. It is taken in a photo booth and one Heer and one Luftwaffe soldat. Did the Germans have photo-booths in the TR period. Every other pic in the collection is def. wartime.

              Hello,

I have the name of this well decorated Norweigan volounteer somewhere, and also a version of the same photo in better quality, so as for as I know its a totaly genuine photo.

This is a personal favorite and was created by the Officer (Gotleib Bidermann) for inclusion in his book. I believe it is a modern form with all his awards and the head from an original wartime picture added.

Its the same foto: I just spoke to my friend, he told me he bought a pile of fotos very cheap, and discovered that one when checking them at his house.

He has emailed a scan to another collector to get an answer, and that guy - without my friends permission - posted it at the other forum.

So it dont "gets around": Its been first at the fleamarket, and since then in my friends collection.

He will email me a scan of the back.

perhaps the cuff title was made only for hes walkingout tunic(by him or tailor),as we can see here
he is werning a reworked m42 tunic,
                            cool photo

Me too - note the foto is dated 1944 and named "Rastenburg", so east-prussia.
Also, there are several gramatical-errors in his german writings, so maybee a voluntier from latvia or so?
