The eagle appears to be original to the tunic.

                Thank you Bob.
                How about collar patches?

The collar tabs are original, but they were not applied to the tunic, at the time the tunic was assembled. The reverse thread, from the bobbin, would match the reverse thread on the eagle.

Nothing points to this not being correct. Some tunics were issued with only the eagle as the appropriate rank collar tab had to be applied. I would not feel uncomfortable, as long as the tunic is completely original and made pre-May 8, 1945. I am not an expert at garments, but like what I have seen, in your photos.

I agree with Bob saying that the Eagle looks like original machine stitched but with these poor pics collar tabs do not IMO

I agree with Bob. My gut feeling liked the eagle stitching immediately but I don't like anything about the collar-tab stitching front or back. Plus they just don't look 'seated' from decades of being there.

                          Hello,

Thank you for many good threads.
Can anyone show example pics of collar tabs that were original to tunic?
                          This is my tunic photo.

                            Tunic

By "seated", I believe they mean somewhat sunken into the fabric. I wouldn't lose too much sleep, since the eagle appears factory applied. Considering the scarcity of "untouched" SS tunics, and the common practice of army tunics being post-war converted into SS tunics, getting ahold of ANY actual SS tunic would make most collectors VERY happy. The key is then to make sure all the insignia are authentic as well. One of the most knowledgable experts has already weighed in, and seems happy with it all.
