I have doubts as to it's originality and the ribbon, especially the runes, is definitely wrong.

I wouldn't dismiss the medal just yet without clearer pictures. The fakes of these awards are usually pretty obvious and this doesn't look like any repros that I have seen. Could we see better shots of the jump ring and the way it is soldered to the medal?
Bob is correct about the ribbon...it has been embroidered sideways with the type of Runes that are prevalent on the most recent copies of the 1st. & 2nd. Grade SS-Service Awards.

Ribbon is an original ribbons upgrate how I see it, might be done from a LW ribbon. The medal byself looks original.
