    Kursk Vol 2

I thought I would plug the latest Volume of the Photo Archive Kursk series by Remy Spezzano of RZM. These photographic records of the battle of Kursk are quite excellent if your a Waffen SS uniform buff like myself. The majority of the photos are unpublished having been salvaged from contact prints. If you like seeing, smocks, helmet covers and lots of pics of the rare one piece camo coverall I highly recommend these books. The PK photographers inadvertently caught great stitch and construction details whilst photographing their subjects. Vol 2 contains shots of Tyschen before his disfiguring face wound and some excellent shots of Vincenz Kaiser of DF. Anyway thought I would highlight this one as a must for the bookshelf. By the way I have nothing to do commercially with RZM but Remy produces quality photo books.

    Cheers

Haven't purchased Vol.2 yet but Vol.1 is excellent.

Vol.1 can't be beat for detail,close-ups especially nice for uniform buffs.

Like you mentioned Mark, the unpublished pictures are a bonus too.

      Great Books

Thanks for the news on these.

I just ordered Vol I & II and had an interesting talk with Remy on future Vols., you can see some of the pictures they will include by going to the RZM sites home page and clicking on the future Vol. covers.

I thought it interesting to see an excellent photo of Tyschen in Vol. II wearing the parade dress SS Belt Clasp on a leather belt.

Hi Mark, after finally getting to see the aforementioned books this weekend, I agree that there are indeed some excellent candid portraits of Waffen-SS soldiers and also some very good "action" shots too. (although it should also be said that many of the photographs have been previously published) For myself, the shots of Tyschen and Kaiser alone makes it worth buying volume 2 on it's own merit! The only problem with these excellent little books is the price, at £25 per volume in the UK and with a projected series of 6 volumes it will be a very expensive set, still when all is said and done they are a very welcome addition to the myriad of otherwise mediocre books covering the Waffen-SS.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments regarding the first two volumes of the WSS KURSK 1943 series. The positive feedback helps to keep me motivated in producing more books for everyone to enjoy. Making this series has been a lot of work but also a labor of love since I too have a long time interest in the subject of anything relating to the WSS soldier.

There are still more great photos to come in the next 4 volumes. We should have KURSK vol. 3 out in late December and then vol. 4 will be released in early Feb. 2004.

As long as people continue to purchase the books I make for their reference library, I will continue to crank them out slowly but surely.

Right now I have in the works several new photo books planned for release in 2004 and 2005 which will deal exclusively with the 1st SS LAH Div., the 3rd SSTK Div. and the 12th SS HJ Div. And if everything falls into place we will also have a two volume set on the 5th SS "WIKING" Panzer Regiment. Again thank you for the positive support.
