Interesting SS related volunteer uniform pictures

Interesting SS related volunteer uniform pictures! Lets start with a female doctor attached to the Latvian SS!
Note Latvian cap badge, final pattern Latvian shield (so-called Dachau pattern) and doctor's arm diamond (raute)!!! This is clearly not a nurse! Her "doctor's uniform" of course lacks collar tabs but has silver collar piping and lacks shoulderboards (being a female, she is an irregular volunteer!)
I assume its the 15th Waffen Gren.Div. I found the image on a Russian forum and I don't speak Russian, so I can't really comment on it further...but worth sharing here I think!

      Latvian Flakhelpers

Latvian Flakhelpers in LW blue Flakhelpers uniforms with LW belts.
Uniform sleeves lack the SS triangular patch...

        Galician Flakhelper

Galician Flakhelper! WOW what a unique portrait!! (borrowed the image from a Russian forum thread)
Note SS patch, as the SS took control of Flakhelpers in the East! + unofficial Luftwaffe schirmmutze!!!
His shoulderboards should have HJ-flieger light blue piping. The LW cap might have red Flak piping?

          Hi Nick

AWSOME picture for sure. The LW and W-SS FLAK mix is very special indeed.

Interesting pic of the latvian female with the mix of latvian military insignia together with w-ss insignia. The shield must be the Dachau type.

          Thanks!

Does the female doctor have a cigarette between her fingers? Not really the national-socialist type of woman <O</O
              Very interesting picture!

                Nick,

The Latvian female doctor in the first photo is Anna Bormane of the 15th Reserve and Replacement Btl. The picture is a cropped version of a bigger photo showing the Btl on its way to Denmark in March 1945.

I know it has been posted before but that Galician portrait is superb.

                Thanks,

                Chris

                  Hi Zanis,
Can you tell us what happened to her at war's end?

Exellent pics Nick! The first group of marching Flakhelpers is from Belarus - note the white-red-white armbands and tricolor flag. Also the ruined government building - I am prety sure that is Minsk. The Galician Flakhelper is a stunning portrait! (I know Gaspare owns a nice copy of this photo). The portrait is interesting in many ways - first of all, we have an officer or a future candidate - its indicated by the hat and the whistle in his pocket. Secondly, he is wearing a small tittle underneat the rune triangle - which states "Junak", meaning "Youth". I was never aware that Ukrainians wore such patch! I only seen Latvians wearing such patch.

P.S. I am also curious as to what color the piping on the hat would be. Red would make sense, but I know Ukrainians liked yellow as it matched their shields, so perhaps the piping might be of that color.

P.P.S. Note that the Latvian lady is wearing the officer version of the medic's raute.

                      Schumo M-43

Here are pictures of an actual schumo m-43, The bevo insignia is machine sewn to the hat. It was vet acquired from a hotel buying show some years back.

I believe I have one of the first genertion copies of that Galician Flakhelper photo as in many theres no details. More than once I've had collectors tell me the insignia was photoshopped on,,,but the photo is so clear you can actually see the stiching on the armband and SS insig!

                        The other photos are excellent!
I guess that takes care of the guys that say the Latvian 'Starburst' armband wasn't worn!!

Just a guess here, but the womans cap insignia looks like a collar tab cut up for it!

Nice Polizei Schuma cap Peter! I would show it in the Polizei section they'll love seeing it!
I figured you would get a big kick out of these images Askold. Here are more Baltic Flak helpers. Of interest is that they're all wearing the LW breast eagle...and I always thought this was an occasional personal embelishment (as opposed to unit adopted) as its an unofficial practice as far as I thought!
Note the Latvian youth "Starburst" diamond (size-wize way larger than a standard HJ route) on their HJ flieger-Flakhelper caps!
Again they were all under SS control so its posted here!
