Leistungsrune - Wiking - Insignia - Theme Photo

    Hi all,

How about posting a few pictures of items around a theme to share? Could a mix of cloth , metal and paper as pictured below or just insignia, I know some of you have some wondeful items.

Here's a small group I assembled for a photo as an example. The Germanische Leistungsrune Profüngsbuch and a photo of the recipient along with representative examples of insignia from his unit, the 5th SS-"Wiking".

    Regards,

      Hello,

would it be possible, that you post large pictures of the leistungsrunen from front, back and sides?

It will be very helpfully for me.

      Thanks in advance

      Stefan

        Stefan.

If you go to the 'War & Qualification Badges' section and search under 'SS Proficiency Rune Badge?' you will see back and front photos of an original of the same type as that shown in this photo.

The spacing's different - at least that's what I think.

                    Hello,

Are those collar tabs the ones in the photo as they look different. I may just be confused again

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Hi folks, sorry not been in to the forum for a while.

I just want to clarify and answer a question posed in the thread. As mentioned in the first post , I quote my first post:

'The Germanische Leistungsrune Profüngsbuch and a photo of the recipient along with representative examples of insignia from his unit, the 5th SS-"Wiking'

... the award book and the photo came together in a group of over 70 documents to a German "Wiking" Officer. The award book is for a silver badge, I show a bronze though I have silver and bronze, for the picture it didn't matter as its an assembled group of repesentative items. So the tabs are not the ones in the photo, but are same rank. The cufftitle is the same style as in the photo. Its just a few things along a 'theme' which was the reason for the post.

Oh, yes the angle made between the sunwheel points where they contact the outer rim in the book is different to original badges.

Yes, copies of the badge have been made that resemble the book more than the badge but the original badge is documented in several period wartime publications with photographs and illustrations, there is no doubt about the angle of original badges. The award books? Who can say why there is a difference in angle but they are only an artists illustration of the badge after all. All known award books have the same angle in the line drawing.

steve, i made the comment, cause on my badge the angle on the sun wheel is alot closer and a so far the 3 collectors ive taken it to have all gave the thumbs up and when posted on here was given the thumbs down so im doing my research the best i can to find out the full story on my version of the badge
