I have seen photos of similar masks used by snipers. I believe they were made in a few different camo patterns.

While I don't collect SS, I came across some pics of these masks on another forum a few years ago and saved them as they were interesting.
I no longer remember where I got them or who the original poster was(if anyone objects then I will remove them).
I post them here to further the discussion.

I also wanted to thank RonP for offering to post these for me via email. I have just learned how to use imageshack and it actually worked.

Guys, I see some of you are a bit too quick about your judgements here...
These SS Camouflage Face Mask saw very limited issue and were used by SS-snipers as an alternative to the face veil.

The one you are looking at is an original specimen!

If any of you other collectors have this mask in your collection, I would be happy to know!

Yes, i know that some soldiers wear some masks, for camo, or for psicologically reasons, but (if I did I mistake I always am happy to learn more! ) everytime I saw these masks were constructed in a different way, similar as the picture i post. I even know that these were used by army and by, the only waffen-ss unit I know, the Dirlewanger. My doubt are about the construction and on the part put in front of mouth, too much perfect for a piece field-made. These pieces, from my informations, were built with parts of other camo items, as zelthban or similar, and not with too much precision. For this reasons looks strange this mask.
I hope someone can be post something that clean my doubts.

Im sorry to say, but I dont like the facemask. There are some construction details Im very sceptical to. Masks like these are in my opinion much harder to autenticate than camocaps, and a lot easier to copy.
Just my personal opinion.
