    M-43 cap question

    Good morning,
I recently went to a gun show in town. A seller had a black m43 cap for sale. It appeared to be late war for it only had one button. It looked good but did not have the pull down tabs on the inside of the cap (it did not have any insignia on it ). Is this an indication that it is a fake? Did all M-43s have the pull down tabs?
    Thank you for your time,
    Steve

Generally speaking I would say no pull downs in a cap you described is not a good sign it was a period contract piece or camp made..It MIGHT have been a privately made or purchased one or a field made one or a post war or repro..Was there any markings inside it??The price?? SOMETIMES if you ask the history of the item ..A dealer with tell you the truth and not a BS story... Confusing but true.. Billbert
Occasionally when you look for pull downs you ll see evidence they were there BUT are pulled out..

      Thanks for reply,
He wanted $600.00 for the cap It did not have insignia on it. Markings on interior hard to see but did have number 59. It did not look field made so I will pass on it.
