Try doing a search on the forum for these. I remember that Glenn Bias (Hohenstaufen) put up a dozen photos of real LAH ciphers like this. I think you could definitely use them for comparison.

This is the one that I use as a model for determining authenticity. There are a couple of others on there too. This pair is just not ringing my chimes. If I found them at a show I would turn my back and walk away. Just my opinion based upon what I see.

          Bob -

Thanks for sharing that link. THIS is the "excitement" of the hobby... not only the hunt for the gold but then once you bring up that metal lump from the bottom of the sea, you get to have the experts agrue wether it's gold or lead!

Tgn is coming over next week to hold them in his hands... he or I will do a follow-up report after that! Those in favor seem to outnumber those opposed, but hands-on is the real test... fingers crossed...

          All the best - Mike

Could be "Fool's Gold"... good luck but I have serious doubts.

Ok guys Ive put my minimal photo shop skills to service here. Heres 3 "accepted" originals against the one in question (I hope no one minds me posting their items)

              1) posted by Bob H
              2) posted by Grant B
              3) posted by myself
              4) cypher in question

I see very minor differences in the one in question. Im no expert, but Id say this is the best repros (if they indeed are) Ive ever seen. My opinion? If cheap Id take the chance. But Id definately want them in hand to be sure.

Thanks RD! Let's also remember that if it is a fake set, it had to have been manufactured in the 1960's or early 1970's. These are from an OLD collection. Were they bothering to make LAH slides this good back then??? Not likely! German helmets with decals and Iron Crosses were a dime a dozen. Who would bother setting up a vintage embroidery machine to perfectly recreate something as insignificant as a shoulder board slide? Why wouldn't they have made hundreds just like this that "old time" collectors have seen by the score? It would have a name, like "the Cosgrove fake, named for Ernest Cosgrove who made them in his Mother's basement in 1969."

Tgn has several original sets and I am eager to have him do the "hands-on" inspection. Here is a daylight shot...

                  Hope this helps?

                    Ade -

That helps alot! Your known originals and mine seem to have been produced by the same place. Things that differ slightly from previously posted ones (that all look like they came from the same machine) are a match with yours! This makes me very happy!

imo the real problem is on the reverse.
could you make a frontal close up of the reverse.

for now, i'm sorry, but IMO are not orginal. I wait the reverse photo to change idea.
