    Gruppenfuhrer collar tab

Hello again. I have decided to be a man about this and put up a pair of Gruppenfuhrer tabs I bought years ago up for scrutiny. I have tried to do research on them but am unable to come up with a definitive judgement. They have been very used (so it appears) and pieces of bullion flake off each time I take them out of the case, which I try not to do very often. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, RH

Aside from the differences in basic construction between these tabs and known originals, I would find it highly unlikely that tabs for an officer of this rank would have been so crudely machine sewn to a uniform.

The buckram as well as the black base material look wrong to me, and I'm not too keen on the embroidery.

                      Ah So !

Bwanek has made a very insightful comment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An understanding of German tailoring is what you need to succeed in this hobby.

Granted that a need for an understanding of german tailoring is needed but the fact is that I am german, albeit not a tailor, and view everything with suspicion, hence the posting. Yet my understanding is that as the war progressed, the materials were increasingly crappy and that no amount of dexterous skill could remedy that fact. Besides which, I am clueless and need to learn one piece at a time.

I donĀ“t think that an SS-general ever was a "victim" of crappy materials. Not even in April 1945.

Wonderful tabs!!! How much would a pair like these cost today? And what source is reliable to buy from?
