OK, now that I have your attention with the odd thread title let me get to the heart of the matter...........

HELP !!!!!!!!!!

If I look at one more TK graphic, one more sleeve eagle photo, or read one more reference book I think my eyes are going to start bleeding. Honestly..... they all look alike now !!!!!!!! I mean one more photo and I'm gonna start drinking heavily

So I am starting my own Central Illinois Waffen SS Big Brother / Big Sister Group .

Seriously I desperately need help from an experienced collector in this field that is willing to take a newbie under his / her wing and help navigate him through the mind field that is Waffen SS Insignia.

If someone is interested to help me understand things like: which direction the thread pattern in a collar tab seperates authentic from fake, I would be a very willing student.

The more I have "researched" the topic, the more I realize I am wholly unprepared to tackle this area on my own. There comes a point where all the images and books simply cannot hold a candle to seeing authentic pieces.

I'm seriously thinking about it, which is why I was hoping to hook up with someone before to learn the ropes.

I don't think the SOS would be the place for me to "learn" about SS collecting. Heck, as it is now, I'm afraid to go to a local show because I really just don't know enough.

I'm new to TR collecting, only been active about a year. But I have been collecting civilian police insignia for over twenty years. So I know the pitfalls and the value of having an experienced collectors help.

The good and evil face colours on "Hess! Hess!" got me laughing and i never ever contemplated that in the teletubbies underground bunker thing (or yupie house design-your choice) that there would be a weapons rack with trench clubs! .........just gets me thinking that this may be the actual command center for some ebay sellers! The spinning radar is the software for the protected bidding option i bet!
