Zimmermann 499/42 M1/72 eagle and 499/41 skull in worn condition. Silverplated finish and cone attached prongs on the skull (compare with the chrimped attachment in post 20-23, which are silver painted btw) Both are made of CupAl.

Assmann made skull and eagle made of zinc. Showed before in this thread but I think my set is more worn... Eagle marked 155/42, skull unmarked.

Not counting the different types of finishes as different variations,
I can think of 15 Deschler skull variations, 2 Deschler eagles, 1 Overhoff eagle, 4 Overhoff skulls, 5 Zimmermann skulls, 9 Zimmermann eagles,
3 Assmann skulls, 9 Assmann eagles, 9 Wagner eagles, 3 Hicke eagles,
2 eagles that are marked 394, and 2 maker marked pieces that remain a mystery. So, that is a total of 64 variations that are currently known,
                            (if I'm not forgetting any).

                            Best,
                            Chris

...and a partridge in a pear tree.

Hence, my belief that an all-inclusive thread attempting to be a single reference on metal cap insignia is an impossibility. It could--and one day will--fill a book.
