Nothing wrong bill mate I think youve done the bare minimum- You have stated your opinion in your chosen wording but you have at least stated an opinion. Now IMO, not pointed at anyone specific i think its obvious this is a very technical website where we depend on facts first to support opinions. Personally I dont see a problem or think this is anything bad the more i see restored tunics as long as like lorenzo does, he said it is restored upfront when he sold it and the price should reflect that. IMO An SS tunic in restored condition is still a real ss tunic, still rare and the closest most will ever get as the clock ticks and due to the rarity of this stuff. Im sure if jaques was an Untouched collector then he wouldnt have bought this but he looks happy and im happy hes happy. I am personally swayed towards untouched myself for certain tunics but the more i see how rare these are the more restored isnt a problem with me as long as i am sold things honestly and its done very proffessionaly like has been with this one. I saw this tunic at lorenzos place and it was very well done, he was so proud of the job, it looks great in hand.

Jacques can also sleep sound at night knowing exactly what his tunic is. Not like the fools who spend ten’s of thousands of dollars on pieces that could easily fall into the same category as Jacques. They just don't know it.

NTZ, sounds like you underrate this tunic. Jacques, it is a GREAT tunic and what is the most important, you will not find a better one. Ever.

And there are plenty out there, that is fools and made up ss tunics. John has referred to $40 000 effort that hit the market not so long ago. Made to deceive and deceive it did. Well not everyone. Jacques

Not one bit, I think it is a great tunic. What I was trying to say is there are collectors out there paying dealers tens of thousands of dollars for pieces that are suppose to be untouched and in fact are completely put together. At least the history of this tunic is known and the cost was not to that level.

Great tunic Jacques and nice job Lorenz.

And I'm right behind Nick on the restored issue, I bet there's only a tiny percentage of ss uniforms in collections with the original insignia still attached, people are fooling themselves if they think otherwise.

It is known fact that a lot of SS removed their insignia before surrendering. It was not worth risking being shot after capture. This shoud support the theory that there are not a lot of SS tunics with their originally applied insignia out there. Jacques

So what would be the market values for such uniforms?

Maybe some offered tunics like Officers, EM M42 ... are put together and still reach high end prices as maybe a purchaser trust the seller to much or think's it is an unouched one and pays the high price.

What would be then the market value on one tunic that is top original and absolute untouched with no provenance.

What then with one tunic with provenance and maybe a named one? Or is there no more market price for it anymore.

Original untouched W-SS tunics are top rare as I see it, no matter if Officer or EM or NCO. For my view even harder to find as a black service tunic, and them compare the market prices. Then find one with an original attached cufftitle to it. I really havent seen since I collect much of such top original examples at all.

I have been watching some of these 'dances' for years and I am amused at the fervor that purists put out there, as if unaltered items are worthless and only untouched pieces are valuable. I think some of us lose the focus of these pieces and that focus should be the men who served and their sacrifices. Today too many collectors look at the investment value of the item and not the history of the thing. WW2 changed the world and is probably the single biggest event that effected Europe. And whether a patch was replaced or not, that item is history, and valuable history at that. Jacques should be justly proud to own something so impressive... if the piece could only talk. Now, don't get me started on Russian theater/movie studio items or relics...

                      Hello

I am sure most know this already but may people would not believe how many tunice posted on this forum are actually restored that are presented as original an unaltered, All you have to do it look hard enough. My comments have nothing to do with the tunic posted.

Judging by the price of the one recently sold on Hannahs Reich without any provenance at over 15,000 Euros, a restored one that is in fact a Waffen SS officers tunic should bring at least half of that I would hope but you know the truth is its not about the money its about the history.

                          .

The history is really what makes it fun for me as well but as much as i love the history I have since taken the view of investment of what i have got so far, and the rising prices, being a growing consideration.

I keep photos of over 25 different SS officer tunics in my archives there were even more but computer failures over the years took a toll on some.Only one of them appears in a Beaver book the rest were in my collection or from Dealers sites and private collections. Not including suspect tunics of which I can count more than 30 sold or offered by overseas dealers and some here in the US,thats a conservative number there probably were more and I could take time and figure it out and name the sites they were sold on. Already thats 55 tunics there are at least another 55 out there that dont come to mind right away wait I just remembered anothe 3-4 tunics so thats 59 and still more ahhh the one that just sold. I could go on and on. So many and they are supposed to be "rare as hens teeth" etc. etc. etc. worth $10-50,000. Collectors need to start using thier heads and not thier wallets.
