    NEUSILVBER SS cap skull

I am not trying to open a can of worms surounding the 800 marked SS cap sets. I am looking for more information about the NEUSILBER skulls and eagles. I believe that they are not silver but a german silver? I have seem some that were mfg by markers 499/41 Fritz Zimmerman, another by marker M1/72, and another by M1/52. Where these the only three makers of the NEUSILBER? Were there others who made them? Are there big differences in the weight of the eagle and shull from the alum ones. If anyone has a photo of any NEUSILBER'S that they could post, or a photo showing an alum and a NEUSILBER side by side that would be great. Thanks

I have only seen neusilber plated original skulls and eagles, but never solid neusilber as of yet. However, I have seen fakes that appear to be made of solid neusilber, so be careful, as these are tricky and confusing.
The only manufactures that I have seen with plated neusilber SS insignia,
    are M1/52, M1/72, (also 499/41), and M1/167 marked eagles.

    Best,
    Chris

Chris. Thanks for you knowledge. Would most of the neusilber skull and eagles be pre 1943? Thanks Paul

Most of them, yes. However, some of the zinc M1/167 eagles have nickel plating and I don't know exactly what years they were produced, but it was probably around 43, as the latest ones have the painted finish.

        Best,
        Chris

          Neusilber SS Skull

This is a neusilber SS skull taken by an 86 year-old D-Day (29th Div.) veteran who is still living. He gave me this skull many years ago. He removed it from a pile of SS uniforms just after the war ended. He helped remove them from the IG Farben building in Frankfurt/Main. He threw the visor hat back into the fire.

What's the value of a Neusilber skull ? They are quite rare !

(crickets)...try and find one. Seems you see plenty of Honor rings, have you seen the 499/41 Anywhere else? Value would be OVER a K, IMO. Did this skull have "round" pins?
                    Cheers

The few that I have seen. One dealer was aking for 1,200 in excellent condition. The other one was $875.00 (both pins broken off) for just the skulls. Paul

Here's mine , the rare version of m1/52 in Neusilber , without the pins.

                            I'm little bit confused.
By neusilber you mean CupAl silver (neusilver) plated?
                            Like these Deschler and Overhoff?
Third one, Zimmerman is also Cupal but with light silver paint on the front - am I correct?

cysior , Cupal Silver plated = Neusilber
Your Deschler is Neusilber , but the Overhoff has a silver finish
