Request help in id of SS cap set

    Hi,
I am requesting your opinions on these items that I have. I believe they are replicas. The seller believes they are real and stands by them. Also states that he received the eagle from a veteran. The eagle is thin aluminum. With aluminum tabs. It is marked SS, RZM 155/38 on the lower wing.
The skull is a heavier metal, with prongs. It is marked RZM and M9/72 is stamped on the upper lip. It looks like brass with heavy german silver. I have asked 3 local dealer “experts” and they all tell me that they are fakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just returned from Iraq and trying to catch up on a year of no collecting. I’m new to this site, still trying to figure out the picture loading. Thanks for patience. Hobie

'155' is the Hersteller (manufacturer's) number for E W. Assmann & Sohne, L******252;denscheid. The '38' is the year of manufacture. Based on the photo you've posted I'd be very worried about that eagle .... it's a very poor shot though.

'M9/72' is an RZM contract code. The 'M9' is for the type of object, in this case a tinnie (day or rally badge) the '72' is for Wilhelm Kolwitz, Bergedorf , Hamburg. Therefore this wouldn't appear on cap insignia, for which the code was 'M1'.

The TK is pure crap, but the eagle looks like an original from what I can see in the photos. It is a bit worse for wear, but that is not an easy bird to find!

From the updated pics I'm inclined to agree with Brad.

                  Eagle status

thanks to all who provided feedback. I had brought the eagle to Bill of The Ruptured Duck, who informed me they were both bad, that the eagle was made in the 1970 by a company, sorry I cant recall the name. any more insite into the eagle? it does not seem like quality from 1938. thanks. I am still thinking about returning it to the seller.

                              black spots

Black spots are old grease I believe, they rub off with damp cloth
