    Questions- Re SS board cyphers

I need a few tips in identifying correct cypher "traits" , in particular the latin cyphers for standartes Germania and Deutschland . Should the pins attach to the board in a N/S or E/W pattern ( either ?) Is there a difference between the Dachau "D" and the Deutschland "D" cyphers?
    Thanks, Kale

Are you talking about this type, these have two prongs and they are centered at each end.

That is a nice "gothic" cypher , If I may correct my earlier response/interpretation -this cypher attaches to the board in an east/west orientation.
I would like info on the latin script cyphers primarily. Thanks

Very nice silver/NCO cypher, the reverse picture indicates two prongs in an east/west orientation. This cypher is just like the "dachau" "D" cypher I mentioned to start this thread. Thanks Gary

            Germania boards

Does anyone have a Germania cypher board they could post front and back photos of ? Thanks to all who have helped this thread so far.

After not reading this thread for a while , I realize I must apoligize for my error in interpreting John Pic's description regarding the pin orientation of the gothic D cypher he posted. The gothic D cyphers have pins at the top and bottom aka north and south aka at each end of the cypher.

              Thanks, Kale

I will try to post a few cyphers in a few days

                      FL cyphers reverse

I have the other pin but I am not good with a solder iron.
I believe these are made of cupal , not quite sure.
Hope the experts like these but I think they are good.
                      Thanks for looking in,

                        Kale,
I am unaware of a Sturmbann D cypher. Can you post info?

                          D cypher

                          Hi Derek,
I still have alot to learn in this hobby but as far as I know D cyphers are for the Deutchland SS VT / Waffen ss regiment. I saw a latin d cypher on a website (that is identical to the one Gary posted earlier in this thread) advertised as a Dachau KZ cypher and I am not sure of the existence of such a cypher and I suspect it is an original Deutschland cypher ,not knowing if the the proprietor has any additional provenance etc. for the piece.

The Gothic cyper John Pic posted is far rarer than the more common latin cyphers.
                          Regards, Kale

                            Thanks Kale,
                            Sounds like a simple misattribution.
