Hi Bill,
I'm sincer, I dont like this type of rzm eagle, I know that this model of eagle is actually judged and sold like original , but personally I dont think that is WW2 era.
I dont like the embroider of this eagle, the thread that seams more silk instead the rajon that was used at the time.
All models of rzm eagles that I know constructed in the midwar/laterwar time have this type (see pictures) of black wool like base to the embroider.
A similar type of cotton cloth in the back side was used I noticed only in the construction of the prewar earlywar rzm hammerhead VT eagles...
The black cloth base used in this type of rzm eagle seams more like the black cloth used sometime for the collar tabs...but it'isnt the same, only similar, I dont like.
BUT This is ONLY my Opinion, exceptions can exist...but if I want buy a rzm eagle I look for the sure textbook exemple....

Hello Suhail,
Your eagle is 100% original. It is the type commonly brought back from Dachau and is machine embroiidered on the velveteen material that is used for many volunteer collar tabs, runic tabs, Totenkopf tabs, mountain troop shields and volunteer sleeve shields. I had about 180 of these eagles, from a US 45th Infantry Division vets daughters, and all are long gone.
