The collar tabs appear original, to my eyes. I have seen worse wrinkling of general's collar tabs from poor storeage where high and low humidity alternate, such as midwest US areas.

You're probably right. The fakers are coming out with ever-closer copies of these. It is scary sometimes. Do you recall the SS-Obergruppenfuhrer pair of collar tabs that Craig Gottlieb had on here? Those were pretty scary, but still obvious in certain areas.

The collar tabs pair discussed here, reminds me of the pair Bill Shea had for sale about a year ago.

I don't know about these, but he (Bill Shea) did have a pair of SS-Obergruppenfuhrer collar tabs and matching sewn-in shoulder boards that came off of a tunic; owner's name unknown; went for about $7,000 for the set.

And Rob... as you can see, these are getting better all the time. You almost need a pair of 'known good' ones to do a side-by-side comparison.

I traded away a few decent helmets to get these from Bill. Felix is correct about these being on Bills site awhile back.

I liked the tabs the moment that I held them, they look much nicer in hand.

It's downright scary. The only thing we can really do is work together to identify and document them as they appear. Not an easy task by any means, especially considering the materials and construction of the newer fakes that have been hitting us.

Ilse,

I was concerned more about some of the leaf details including the spacing between the leaves. But these cannot be confused with the reproductions. Congratulations on a great acquisition! Not too many collectors have these in their collections.
