    WSS officer or not

Revived due to added info from researcher John P. Moore ,page #2

I want to show you a tunic I have had for years.
First the story just to give you time frames that are facts.
My friend who no longer collects picked up this tunic in about 1976 from what we called back then a runner. These guys would pick up stuff at flea markets , from vets or just about any place. They would then turn the stuff quickly for a short profit. My friend steve paid 75.00
    bucks for the tunic.

Other fact. At that time of purchase it was stripped completely except for a rank side SS Untersturmfuhrer Tab (not the one presently on the tunic)
It had shadowing from another WSS tab and sleeve eagle, but no signs of a cufftitle.

Other fact. It is named and tailor's labeled

Other fact. My friend removed the rank tab and added tabs and boards and what I am sure is repro sleeve eagle

I want you to look at this tunic and give me your opinions, if this was or could have been originally a SS tunic.

I bought the tunic from my old friend when he got out of the racket and sold off his mostly dagger collection. I bought it for cheap money at the time. I always liked the tunic and felt it had some promise because of the collar color, the collar standing , and facing materials used and color.

If I could trace the name to a SS officer stationed in the Haag in Sept 1941 . I think it would be well worth properly restoring. What do you think.

The first shot is the named label.

    D I ? S B A C H

    No.101 7/9/41 (Sept 7 1941

The consensus on the ID forum is DIESBACH is a proper german Name

I always thought it could be D.I. ASBACH because the unknown letter is hard to decipher if it was a letter or just a smudge on the crease

Tunic from the front . The collar lays flat with two hooks and is a light green, less grey than the photo.

I think the tunic looks a police type green color a bit

The facing material below the inside of the collar looks also like a police green blue

Suspicious pull over the pocket but absolutely no outline or sign of a breast eagle

Heres the stature of the collar with the tabs which were added later.

What do you think of the tabs anyway. Notice that the runes are not perpendicular to the edge of the tabs. Could they have been foreign manufactor

                Thanks for your opinions

Well, for starters I don't like the collar tabs

The tunic appears to be a real period German tunic but for what service branch is a mystery. The Runic collar tab looks like some early fakes I have seen. Havent seen evidence of real ones that look like that. Although a couple of tunics suposedly original that Im aware of had similar angled runes no real provenance though.

This tunic does exhit similar external construction characteristics as Peter Lukas's "Field tunic for a Stabszahlmeister (Paymaster) auf kriegsdauer (A Officer who signed upp for the remaining time of the war)", (distinguishable by the grey collar)tunic currently available on his site: Item#: UC6077. Take a look for a comparison.

Peter's is the real deal, the piece shown on this thread looks very similar, the green wool is interesting though.

Thanks I took a look on Peter's site. It does look similar, although the collar on mine is definately more green and soft wool ,kind of moleskinish.
The photo makes it look grey

I just found Albert Diesbach on a website with SS Officers names from SS microfilm. If this same guy was in the Haag in Sept 1941. I can assume
its him, if there wasn't an Army officer by the same name there at the same time
