Revived due to added info from researcher John P. Moore ,page #2
I want to show you a tunic I have had for years.
First the story just to give you time frames that are facts.
My friend who no longer collects picked up this tunic in about 1976 from what we called back then a runner. These guys would pick up stuff at flea markets , from vets or just about any place. They would then turn the stuff quickly for a short profit. My friend steve paid 75.00
bucks for the tunic.
Other fact. At that time of purchase it was stripped completely except for a rank side SS Untersturmfuhrer Tab (not the one presently on the tunic)
It had shadowing from another WSS tab and sleeve eagle, but no signs of a cufftitle.
Other fact. It is named and tailor's labeled
Other fact. My friend removed the rank tab and added tabs and boards and what I am sure is repro sleeve eagle
I want you to look at this tunic and give me your opinions, if this was or could have been originally a SS tunic.
I bought the tunic from my old friend when he got out of the racket and sold off his mostly dagger collection. I bought it for cheap money at the time. I always liked the tunic and felt it had some promise because of the collar color, the collar standing , and facing materials used and color.
If I could trace the name to a SS officer stationed in the Haag in Sept 1941 . I think it would be well worth properly restoring. What do you think.
The first shot is the named label.
D I ? S B A C H
No.101 7/9/41 (Sept 7 1941
The consensus on the ID forum is DIESBACH is a proper german Name
I always thought it could be D.I. ASBACH because the unknown letter is hard to decipher if it was a letter or just a smudge on the crease
