Cuff Titles, a Question About Application.

In most of the reference books that show close ups of original cuff titles sewn to uniforms they seem to be hand sewn to the sleeves. Does this seem to be the norm or were they just as likely to be machine sewn? Thanks.

and dont think a bad quality sewn on cufftitle means it is post war applied, I have seen stiching threads all over the place on certain cufftitles.
