Dear comrades in arms
My good friend has once again been able to obtain some very interesting items belonging to Norwegian volunteers. <OThis time the catch was a super-rare collar tab Den norske Legion, St******248;ttemerket (supporting members’ badge) Germanske SS Norge, the silver tress around the collar and finally an officer port ep******233;e. The item, which was kept in a jewellery box, was obtained directly from his relatives.
<OThe items belonged to one man. He started his military career in Den norske Legion as an Unterscharf******252;hrer, and on a picture from Den norske Legion it’s fairly easy to see that he is wearing the same collar tab with the Norwegian lion in metal. After his service in Den norske Legion he attended Junkerschule Bad T******246;lz. With the rank of Untersturmf******252;hrer he then served in the 23. Regiment Norge, where he received his EK I. His last leave was in February 1945, and shortly afterwards this brave Norwegian volunteer was killed in action.
<OThis is probably the first model collar tab, introduced in the military training <ST1<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />camp Fallingbostel</ST1l where the legionnaires received their first military education. The axe is missing, and this is probably due to the fact that the German authorities didn’t approve of its use. This special type of lion was also used in the Viken battalion standarte. It is worth noticing that the same type of collar tab, in the officer version, is used by the commander A. Quist.
