Hello to all,
I'm a new member, life long enthusiast (ever since receiving WW2 German war trophies from my Great Uncle). A vet of the Big Red 1; North Africa, Italy (wounded), back to England to recover, just in time for the big one on Omaha Beach. About a decade ago started collecting in earnest.
At any rate, a friend of mine who works for an auction agency has seen some SS collar tabs that will go on the block for an upcoming estate sale. I haven't seen them in person but his description is as follows. Two collar tabs, black background, bordered in silver. The left one is a solid black background devoid of other marks, (Shutze or Oberschutze) I assume? The left one is where I'm lost. It has the SS runes on the black background with what he says "looks like two small z's at an angle to the larger SS runes. What division or unit would these belong to? My research materials turn up nothing even close to this description. He also states that the backs are covered by a white material. He says they appear well made and are in great shape (the latter may not be a good sign). The only other info I have is that he was a vet with no immediate family.
Any help would be appreciated, if pictures are obtainable I will post them.
Many thanks in advance,
Eric.
