SS CAMO CAP, snowballs chance in hell

I bought this hat about 20-25 years ago for the price of what repro hats are going for now, Is there a snowball's chance in hell that it's real? The vent hole grommets appear to be an anodized bronze? If these are incorrect what should they be, and what shape or configuration should a real one be. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

                      Hi Bob,
I'm sorry, IMO the cap is bad fake , with original plan tree duk.
All construction is wrong, you can see the correct construction of this caps on the Beaver book.

You've answered your own question with this one... snowball's chance in Hell.

                          melted snowball

Thanks for the info, I originally bought it to wear but for whatever reason never did and had little hope for it being good. Again though, what should the correct vent grommets look like and what material should they be made of ?

That is a question that should better remain unanswered here in the public...

                            Cheers

Many years ago I had an Italian camouflaged jacket with a bevo sleeve eagle on it and SS-Unterscharfuhrer of Artillery shoulder straps. I bought a new made M1943 field made from original material because I figured that was the closest I'd ever come to finding an original to go with the jacket. I used to wear the cap around and put some nice wear in it. I never sewn any insignia on it, leaving it plain. When I sold the jacket the cap went with it but I told the buyer it was original material, new-made cap with a lot of hard-earned wear!
