I recently found a very strange metal edelweiss insignia for hat. It has, instead of the standard gold metal attached center piece a circle withe the SS runes. the Edelweiss metal badge appears to be the standard one, and its sewn on a black cloth in poor conditions. In first place i thought it was an original edelweiss where some funny guy added the SS circle, but its omogenously oxidized on the surface and it doesnt look remounted.I didnt cut off the black cloth anyway.
Anyone has ever stomped into a similar insignia ? Are there any known fakes like that around? It is really a strange piece,sold to me as a standard edelweiss for a very low price,so i dont see the deal to be so creative and then sell it for little money. Any idea welcome.
