    Unusual Allgemeine-SS Cavalry Collar Tab

This collar tab is being offered, for sale, and I have been unable to solve the mystery if original or not. It is not a typical RZM SS collar tab. I have never seen another, in this unusual construction. The owner has had it for years and he is not asking insane money for it. Has anyone seen an example made in this fashion?

    Hi Bob,

I have not seen one of these close up. However, I do have a period photo if that would help at all. Here it is...

      Cav collartab

Here is one I have that I know is an original period collartab. Looks to have some similar traits.

        Bob,
I have not seen another like that where the flags are constructed in that way, it looks from the photo as if the poles of the flags are twisted cord and held in place with loops stitches, does the piping enter the patch at each end? it also looks like the bottom section border of the flags is done in the same type of way? and no black embroidery, the ones i have seen have been like ones posted in post #3, not offering an opinions one way or the other just not seen one personally that way before
        cheers

          oh great...

If the learned-major-domo-uber-demi-gods of the SS cloth world don't know, what help is there for us mere mortal collectors of the "fettid woollen" tidbits?

            Gary,

The flag staffs are sewn back under the wool, on either end and you are correct that there are threads holding them down. no black embroidery, as I would expect, in the flags, on a standard RZM collar tab. I have the standard tab, in my collection, the question is do I buy this or let the owner send it to Manions?
