Bryon, I believe you, I just didn't know they were faking this particular style of hat (Dachau Panzer), as I have never knowingly seen one for sale or photos of one! If someone has a photo of one, I think everyone would be interested in seeing it for obvious reasons. It is amazing they would go after these since these are in my opinion an "ugly" cap and many people who initially see a "real one" think they are fake because of the relatively low quality construction. Here is a thread that also grew somewhat contentious that debated SS panzer hats that has several pictures:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=dachau+panzer

Unfortunately, many of the photos of the SS panzer Dachau hats were deleted from this thread because at the time we were afraid to give away too many construction details. However, on page 7 JohnK still has pictures on that thread of what I consider to be an authentic version. Any new comments on that hat would be most welcome since I was not aware that fakers were replicating this style of cap.

    I love the beach.

Yes, Marty, I was fairly certain that they were and as Glenn said they are quite good, capable of fooling those not familiar with the originals.

The hat posted by JohnK as well as yours appears to be 100% legit from those pictures (again ONLY IMO!!!)

Hello to all, I feel this thread is getting more interesting with each posting and what is now coming out about fake Dachau M43 Panzer is frightening.

Would it be possible to get any opinions about the SS Panzer M43 posted by
Paul.l.k because we are none the wiser and no one has said any-thing about that cap. He has been good enough to take the time to post pictures. Many people I have spoken to and some of them very respected collectors believe Paul's hat is real and they have good reasons why they think this

Perhaps we have situation similar to the Dachau Panzer M43's where we have both real ones and superb reproductions.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions and may be if I am lucky facts,

        Chris

I have to agree with NZ Mark, that show in Christchurch, N.Z. last year was one of the best I have been to for a long time. They tell me that this years one is going to be even bigger. They have had to find a bigger venue to hold it in due to the number of bookings. Who knows if we can build this show up we may even be able to get some of the forum members from other countries to come to it and perhaps have a look around New Zealand as well. Christchurch is NZ's third largest city and has a good international airport.

Could be a chance for a hands on inspection and the real facts on some of our SS M43's,

                Chris

Judas, if I read your last post correctly, you are saying that English is your second lanuage ? If this is the case then I think people will now understand why some of your postings have been a little hard to follow.
I feel people are trying to clarify what you are saying and may not have realised this.

Now that this is known, we hope you will share more with us. Do you have experience of collecting German Militaria any-where else in the world ?

Could we please bring the thread back to SS Panzer M43 caps and could I please ask Mr Singer, Gary Wood or Bob Hritz for an opinion about Paul.l,k's cap

From what you can see in the pictures which have been posted, is this cap likely to be original or is it also a reproduction like the cap which started this thread ?

I know Paul will be wondering and could post more photos if that would help,

                                Chris
