There are for sure variations regarding handembroidered cloth insignias. Templates where used but not for all the embroidered details like the acorns etc. These days also the templates are getting faked, but they look different from the original ones. You like it or not it is up to the buyer but there are damm good faked insignias out. Here is an example how I like it and I don't make any exeptions for such items who reached already the top price class.

Question on S.S. General's Collar tabs
Collapse

Those pairs and singles that I have owned all had the more blunt stems. In the last 10 years, there appeared a quantity of pairs (never singles?????) with the pointed stems.
If I were to seek additional SS general's collar tabs for my collection, I would NOT look for the types with pointed stems. Of course, the proper F code RZM paper tag would also be most important to me.
I would have to concur with Bob Wirtz on his assessment.

I believe these are two nice examples to show what Peter is talking about:
http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...os/S29753.html
http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...os/S08753.html
Just compair them with the "pointed tabs" and you will see the difference...yes, just the "difference" not saying that the ones there are good and the others aren't...everyone should decide for themself....
Cheers

Yes, the tabs on Peter Whamond's site, The Collector's Guild do appear to be correct examples. Just what I'd like to see. Using the information have learned from this thread! What's everyone else have to say? Have I learned anything? Or should I rephrase, have I learned how to determine good from not so good?
Try not to confuse the Peter's! I'm already on overload with this thread.
Peter Whamond.....The Collector's Guild.
Peter von Lukas.......(Peter excuse me if I misspelled your name) I also forgot what was the name of your website. (sorry).
Thanks for the input Fritz!
Cheers,
Howard

Robert,
You made the truest statement of the day!
One small problem, I don't think I ever found the beginning?
Maybe that's the reason it never ends?

Thanks Fritz!

Thank you for providing the correct information. Just want everyone to get proper fame and fortune.
Robert, thanks to you! For also providing the information.
Have a good day everyone!

Nice to see Bob Hritz stepping in to share his wealth of knowledge!
In regards to the pointy stems, in looking back a page where Peter made a comparison between the Schumacher and Gottleib tabs; the Schumacher tabs are textbook examples and really only have a slight 'pointy-ness' to one of the stems on the right tab.....not at all like the overly exaggerated curved points to all of the stems on the Gottleib tabs.
By the way, that was an interesting 'point' Bob brought up about these pointy stem tabs showing up only in pairs, though I have a feeling we will now start to see singles.

What are these worth on today market?
I'm considering selling these tabs. As singles. Or together.
I understand I will not be able to fetch a price like the "big" dealers........
But would really like to know what these are worth?
Or what might be the top dollar, quick sale price?
Regards,
Howard

And I am not at all sure what a "curved point" is.
Here are the Schumacher tabs again:Attached Files
