    M1/52 Totenkopf Badge

I had always been under the impression this badge was a copy as it differed from other M1/52 badges I understood to be genuine. Reading a few of the posts that mention the number of variants from this manufacturer I thought I would post it to see if I was in error condemning this piece.

        Thanks Ian,
Actually there is no pitting on the back. It seems not to be cast and the colour differentiation appears to be due to some kind of oxidation to the metals. But please don't worry about knocking it, as I said at the begining, I have always thought it to be a fake.

I have seen more than one of these in my time, and I think the skepticism of my British and Commonwealth colleagues is likely sound. I espy what I would describe as casting holes or pits, and the corrosion and appearance of the base metal generally does not seem like a stamped piece, actually. I have seen these cast copies, as well, although not as well aged as is this piece. Ergo: pfui!

              Hi all,

Sorry for the late reply. I have been very busy lately.
Anyway, this is a rather crude, cast reproduction and the material is some type of pewter junk that just looks horrible, but I see these very often.

              Best, Chris
