Was that friend of the opinion this belonged to Demelhuber? Appears to all be original items.

            -

            Interesting!
Can we see some backsides, please?
How come Demelhuber had white instedad of light gray backing?

One of Demehuber's tunics is pictured on page 299 of Beavers first volume. Although that tunic has the normal grey colored boards. I didnt notice the white at first, thats very interesting for an SS General perhaps there is a photo of him wearing these.

Collar tabs for sure looks stunning!

Did they really do that ugly designed eagle as early as 1937? Its amazing when you compare with the usual standards of insignia for the time beeing. I just saw another example dated 36 in one of my reference books. So apearently they did.

Those eagles were before the nicer detailed styles even Felix. IMO much harder to find to.

Yes but much less desireable because of the ugliness IMO. Hence they usually command a lower price.

                      Cheers,

I know of one listed for $1750 and if I had the bones I would snap it up right now!! Very desireable.

                          Well, opinions vary!

Usually they do have a lower price than the more stylish version. I just tell you how it is in most cases. And price dont correspond to the rarity for some stuff. So, there has to be another reason for the lower price. I know the reason.

I know one reason, simply because the new breed of collector only buys items that they feel are most popular and not based on historical importance or relevance. The type eagle shown is in fact seen in many many period photos and often on the tunics of higher ranking officers. Any original period bullion eagle is rare and difficult to find on the market today.

Some conclusions drawn a bit too fast here. The "new breed" dont decide the total market and I believe the newer collectors, like myself, are infact a small part of the whole collecting community. I do agree that some collectors prefer to buy the text book versions and are very picky about items as well. We should be picky for many reasons.

I justed tried to describe how the market of today is. And please dont mix my personal opinions with the "new breed" generalisation. We all have personal opinions about what we prefer and all originals are more or less of historical importance.

Though seen in a lot of photos the other rzm version is far more common. Since many collectors also collect things out of the esthetical point of view, and without beeing plain populist collectors in my opinion, it partly explains the market value.

I really respect your knowledge Jpic!

                              Cheers,
