Collar tabs for sure looks stunning!
Did they really do that ugly designed eagle as early as 1937? Its amazing when you compare with the usual standards of insignia for the time beeing. I just saw another example dated 36 in one of my reference books. So apearently they did.

I know one reason, simply because the new breed of collector only buys items that they feel are most popular and not based on historical importance or relevance. The type eagle shown is in fact seen in many many period photos and often on the tunics of higher ranking officers. Any original period bullion eagle is rare and difficult to find on the market today.

I justed tried to describe how the market of today is. And please dont mix my personal opinions with the "new breed" generalisation. We all have personal opinions about what we prefer and all originals are more or less of historical importance.
Though seen in a lot of photos the other rzm version is far more common. Since many collectors also collect things out of the esthetical point of view, and without beeing plain populist collectors in my opinion, it partly explains the market value.
I really respect your knowledge Jpic!
Cheers,
