Lots of fine things to find at Ekeberg spring marked (once found a nice BEvO SS skull there. Costed me $30). It is held in may, and I`m sure going.

Julius: You should also visit the militaria show i may. Its the only plane militaria show here in Norway.

    Cheers

I wouldn't say that you're off topic, i would say that you're right on the spot

What it all boils down to is the fact that the variety of tabs belonging to the Den norske Legion/1. Politikompani is almost overwhelming, and so far on this theme there seems to be rather few opinions which really has anything worth at all. The mass of pictures from Den norske Legion/1. Police Company really shows an abundance in variety regarding these tabs, and my little question, although rather difficult to get an answer on, is as simple as this:

Can the variety of different tabs be explained purely by someones thumbs up or down, often without so much getting to the point where ones really document why theres seems to be so many different tabs floating around. And i have'nt forgot all the fellows whose in the business of fabricating these tabs nowadays. Could there have been some original tabs locally made for instance in Norway ? Or in Germany? Or somewhere else ? Or is it just a slight possibility that only because we can't fully explain the origin of all these different tabs that we automatically disregard their possible authenticity because of lack of insight in not only the formal regulations of the Legion but also the different political motifs of those individuals who in fact bore these collartabs ?

          Hi A.H.,

An interesting tread on these tabs used by Den Norske Legion (DNL). I am not able (due to knowledge) to give any expert comments on the officers tabs as you asked for in earlier treads but I will try to give some of my general thoughts. I think you have given many of the answers in the above text.

Due to the controversy regarding uniforms and insignia in the beginning of the DNL set up we can assume that there was some personal initiatives in this area. Based on period photographs it seems that several types of lion tabs was used both in embroidered and steel versions. There is not many embroidered ones that are known (You have probably shown most of them in this tread.....). Even without a deeper evaluation it seems like the embroidered ones differ and I would as yourselves assume that they are made on a personal initiative by some of the people in DNL. The one you posted with provenience is certainly 100 % original, but probably not a textbook RZM issue tab, and I would therefore believe they were made outside the normal SS supply system. In order to verify these as original I think you must rely on bullet proof proveniences (detailed pictures of the specific tab and original owner etc.).

The tabs made out of a standard RZM tab and added a Norwegian M 37 lion is of course a different topic and can be verified by it's own merit. Several pictures shows this combination in use. The following tread has some examples:

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124212&highlight=legion

Until now the embroidered versions has been ultra rare so if they start to pop up everywhere, be very careful.

          Regards
          Pål

I am the owner of the first embroidered tabs AHT showed.I have compared them with the tabs from B collection and the lion and the border around are exactly made of the same material, no doubt, but the backside is different, sorry for the little bit bad picture of mine.
In my opinion are definitevely both originals or fakes.

                      Hi.

I have only seen 3 offiser emboidered "Freiwillige Legion Norwegen" collartabs.
The 2 posted here and a third pair.
All 3 pairs are different from eachother, but am I quite sure the two pairs here are original.
They are handmade in Norway as Bax writes, therefor the "naive" look and the untypical material and backing used.
The type of collarpatch with silvered metal lion (same lion used before the war buy the norwegian army), these are hard to say are good or not. If you have a SD collartab and a metal lion, no problem to sew it on.
I would never buy a collartab like this, only if I got it directly from the vetaran or his family, or if I got a waterproof history on it.

                      Regards
                      Derek

                        Hi Jotuntroll,

Is your tabs the standard RZM version? The flashlight makes the reveres a little unclear. It looks like a RZM tab, or is it a local made one?

Nice looking tabs. Do you have them directly from the vet or with a documented background?

                        Regards

                          Hi Pål.

My legion set is from norwegian dealer and I belive it is anorwegian made model.
They were issued to me from Tordenstierne militaria some years back.
I checked the pair with several big collectors in Norway before pucasing them and it was all "thumbs up".
Rare and expensive but undoubtly a good frontkjemper investment!
