          Hi John,

I'm sorry but IMO is Fake!
          Is a old Czec reproduction.
only original parts are the buttons and the pockets in hbt.
It is constructed in normally cotton, not the combination of cotton and rayon called Duck, also the pattern of camouflage is a reproduction of the oakleaf A pattern.
You can see the difference of the normally cotton and a original cotton duck of the war time when you put the water on the smock, the reaction of the famous duck is completely different.

I agree with Lorenz as for authenticity. This style of smock pops up from time to time .... I am sure you will find similar examples on the forum if you do a little search.

As for water repellency I can not agree with colleage Lorenz, this was not gained by combining cotton and rayon but rather by treatening the items with a chemical substance called "Persistol". But it is correct that, as for my information, these smocks miss this feature and are not water repellant in the sense of "SS water repelency standards". Beside that, as Lorenz mentioned, there are other things that are very wrong with this style of smock and as he said they originate from somewhere in the 80s...I don't know if from czech or, back at this time, western germany....

Still, I don't want to hide that many people belive them to be good but I don't....So these are just my thoughts...

            Cheers

            Fritz

Before "barnfind" there was the "box car".Thats how these large quanities of this smock were explained away when they first appeared.

Correct me if I am wrong, but also the mismatch in the fall side of camo raises a red flag.
