    To be added to the fake list ?

    Dear Sirs;

    Please Excuse me for tumbling into this neighbour forum - I´m definately no expert on SS-insignina - but in my attempt to get some hints about the authenticity of the depicted items, I just happened to see the very comprehensive thread about the fakes. (I just didn´t want to post any additions to the thread before knowing for sure whether the items in question are really fakes or not.)

    The first item is apparently what is supposed to be a cap insignia, issued to the infamous Danish "Schalburg Korps" - they surface from time to time here in Denmark, (the insigina that is - not the Schalburg Korps...!), but the local experts simply can´t agree whether they´re genuine or not.

    Second item is the usual 2-pattern DH - simply couldn´t find a similar on the current fake-list...

    Any hints would be much appreciated;
    Greetings from Denmark

    The Schalburg cap insignia is one of two well-known fakes. There is also an "officerversion" of this fake. They even are sometimes sold by well-known dealers as originals,. although there is quite a diffenrence in the making. J will see if J have a picture of an original .
    But as said Fake

      You won't find that particular M1/24 (Overhoff) TK on the fake list, since it is a very nice original. However, if you believe that it is a fake, who am I to disagree? I will be glad to take it off your hands. I will even pay for postage.

          The Schalburg cap insignia is a fake. Below is a comparison of the fake (top) and an original (bottom), the differences are quite obvious.

            Noble Gents;

            Thank you all for sharing this information so willingly !

            In accordance with your observations, the cloth rag will be cremated ritually in a nearby future, (would indeed have surprised me if you had turned the thumbs up on that one), the skull will be kept in my drawer - just in case a matching visor should blow this way...

            Thanks a lot - this forum is simply GREAT !!

            PS: As a rookie in here, I´m curious to know when your profile will indicate that you have actually payed for a membership ? - in fact i did that just a few hours after joining.
            (I imagine that most newcomers don´t want to leave the impression that they just "sponge" without supporting the good cause !)
            I would gladly pay twice the amount for the knowledge I´ve obtained from various forums already !
            Hopefully I can contribute likewise in accordance with my own humble areas of interest.

            Best regards;

                  The original is white cotton, the fake shown is grey.

                  Also the thread is tighter on the original.

                  The "Officer"-fake type (not shown) the cotton is silver look-a-like.

                  "hands-on" one would not be in doubt.

                    The most obvious difference to me is the vertical lines of the stitching in the feathers of the wings on the fake. By contrast, the feathers of the orihinal are smooth and continuous.

                      Exactly!

                      Again, "Hands-on", one will not be in doubt!

                        That shows the trouble with trying to determine authenticity by looking at photos only.

                        With some of these badges, you just cannot tell by photos alone.

                          I'm sorry if my previous picture was not sufficiently detailed, hopefully this picture will clearly show the difference.

                            Day and Night with the new pictures. You can definately spot the differences now.

                              While the differences were apparent in the first comparison, I would still
                              need someone with the right knowledge to tell me right from wrong.

                              The skull, on the other hand, would be worth $500 to me as a copper
                              1/24 with the silver wash (with pins) has managed to elude me for the
                              past 35-odd years...
