    Original TK? - Opinons Please

This looks like it could be an original Zimmermann to me. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have. Am I just being optimistic? All opinions welcome.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    Brad.

That also looks like an original Zimmermann to me, from what I can see.

I share the assessment of my Scottish colleague.

        Thank you, gentlemen.

I am honored to have two such highly esteemed collectors provide me their assessment. I needed a quick sanity check before making an auction bid and I couldn't have asked for two better authorities to provide it.

I won the auction, so, this TK and the fur cap it is on will soon be in my possession. I will let you know how they look upon closer inspection.

        Regards,
        Brad

I am finally getting around to posting photos of the fur cap I bought at auction based solely on the photo above.

The reverse of the TK confirms what was previously agreed based on the photo; it is an original CupAl 499/41 (Zimmermann). Unfortunately, one of the pins has broken off. The seller described it to me as “loose,” but it was completely detached by the time I received the cap from him in the mail. I have the pin (which was still in its original hole in the cap), but I have not decided whether to try to repair it or not. I generally like to leave pieces the way they are.

The cap also leaves something to be desired in terms of condition. The inside lining of the cap is badly torn in several places and the rabbit fur on one of the ear flaps has a bare spot which is visible on the wearer’s left side at the bottom edge. However, to me, the heavy combat wear adds to its appeal; this salty cap certainly saw its share of action during the war!

I dont see any harm in re-attaching the broken pin, if you sell it, you can confirm that the repair was done by yourself.
