SS Collar Tabs for review

I need help on these collar tabs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Would it help if I pulled back the cloth from the inside of backside so you can see the inner board or whatever that material is called, it looks like shiny burlap.

I'm intrigued as to what the "shiney burlap" looks like.
These tabs have always mystified me.
The quality and shape of the embroidery is of high quality,
as is the embroidery bullion thread.
Is the wire piping not the same as the VT NCO
(interlocked with black) silver piping?

Hello All,
The came off a authentic EM uniform, that had piping added to try to make it an officers uniform. Are we 100% sure they are bad, or have they just had piping added? Or did those even exist?
QUESTION
Would these collar tabs have even existed without the piping? I know the tunic is authentic but piping has been added.
