    Opinion on SS Cover

    Hello
    Pleased yours opinions on this SS cover . Made in two types of camouflage canvas . Black and green cotton thread stitching . Blackened aluminium fixing hooks . Thank you for your help

                I know less than nothing about these covers, but was the sewing work on originals really this laughably crude!

                  But in all fairness it’s a late war trait
                  Early were better

                  The fakers usually are better standard than wartime as they only made a couple at a time with nice big thick thread !

                    You confirm my own good feeling for this cover . The assembly seems correct to me as well as hooks and material . The poor quality of the green cotton thread mounting of the hooks bothered me . No dout a little carefull work on the part of the seamstress at the time .

                      The originals are incredibly poorly made, and this goes for smocks too. As mentioned, early war was a bit better, but they were never finely made items.
                      German uniforms and insignia were near to junk in many cases by mid war, particularly when compared to US material.
