    SS Tunic?

    Hello,
few weeks ago i found this tunic. I think it could be a fieldgrey ss tunic wich was retailored to a closed collar cut for field use. Clearly visible the ghost of ss sleve eagle and old fighter Chevron. Also visible ghost of the former open collar cut. Additional three buttonholes at the front and double RZM marked belthook Buttons at the back. The other buttons are different, only Assmann marked.
    What do you think?

    Regards, Christian

Great potential for an early SS tunic restoration! Congrats!

        I also like it.
It looks like an honest conversion and done of the period!

Nice looking tunic! From my reckoning, the collar shows the elongated army-type collar tabs, not SS. If the collar was added to a converted uniform, why do you figure it was set up with army style tabs?

Definitely an interesting uniform item, and clearly period.

No green customs piping details on cuffs and facing edges, but it's possible it was removed.

Looks like a breast eagle was there at one time.

Four buttoned open collar style is not typical for customs uniform. Also the original sewn in rzm belthook buttons. There is no sign of former customs piping.

You are correct, and I don't believe it was a customs tunic. I am curious why the collar tab imprint on the collar is the elongated army officer's type, and not the SS profile.

The imprint looks too long for SS, unless it is just the photo (or my eyes).

I have no idea why there are traces of army tabs. I have a name where the tunic came from. It came from Weimar, owners name was Burgmann. Maybe someone could find the name in a ss officers list?

Maybe guy was originally allgemeine SS then went to army instead of Waffen SS and used his old A-SS grey tunic..or maybe the army guy wanted an SS looking or reichswehr style tunic with slash pockets..probably the case as there is an eagle outline..or it was restored as army who knows.

I was speculating based on the size of the tabs … there wouldn't have been a sleeve (or breast) eagle either but the tab size …
