You are right. It worked when I posted it, but no longer when I try again.

I don´t know if this link will work.
Something stops the translation of the whole page.

It appears the photo´s on the page is now replaced with links to them.

        This is pretty cute:
I hope it works in translation:

Well, at least the first part does. I suppose the russian text has some control characters embedded that gives Google translation the hiccups.

More goodies for serious tech buffs.

You misunderstand me Mikedenmark. I can see the pictures but this equipment is not in action on these pictures you are posting. Different equipment.

I see at least 2-3 photo´s with this instrument in use.
And one where it has been photographed in colour, open.
It is also mentioned as the model 17 in the text.
            ???

You're both right gents The device's original designation was m(odel) 17. Later, with the appearance of L.Dv. 608, it was redesignated Drucktheodolit 37.

Its a common misunderstanding that all these large theodolites were developed for rocket programms. In fact they were designed for training purposes within Flak measurement units. Both Hörch and Entfernungsmesser crews underwent serious training. During the last stages of their training, they had to measure location cq distance of flying targets. Most often small aircraft such as Fiesslers were used. In order to check the accuracy of their results, the actual position/distance of the aircraft in relation to time had to be measured. This is where these theodolites came in.

I suppose the function was integrated in the later large 4 meter rangefinders?
Those with a circular mess instrument?

                  Dear Michael,

No, they were never integrated in the 4m Em, nor in any of the Kommandogeräte. I guess you have the Flak Aufnahmekammer in mind. This was indeed mounted on the Kdo 40 but served to check the callibration of the device, not the measuring results of the men using it.
