    Clueless!

    Hi,
I am hoping for some help in identifying this hunk of metal. I have had it for a number of years and still have no idea exactly what it is. There are very few markings visible, with most I suspect being under the glazed paintwork. I can make out a '42' and 'FB' but other than a few stamped serial numbers '99', that is about it.

Glass is intact but dirty and focus working. It measures around 9.5" in length.

    Thanks for looking.

It's half of a Barr and Stroud GK5 6x42 Director Sight - a binocular sight used by the Royal Navy in WW2 and afterwards.

That is brilliant Bilko, thank you so much for the help. I finally know what it is after what must be 20+ years. I never would have guessed it originally was two piece.

      Really appreciate it
