8x60 blc slim model rubber eye shields question

Hello all,

I have these two 8x60 blc "slim" binos in my collection, both were made in 1941. I think they should have the same rubber eye shields. However, as you can see, the rubber eye shields are different. Why? I would appreciate any of your answers!

Very nice. I assume they are an early and late type.
Later is made for ease of manufacture.
Beh also changed the design of their eye cups
So why not Zeiss ?

The eyecups on the right with the thin metal ring round the outside are genuine WW2 issue. The ones on the left without the metal ring are from the post-war period. They probably came from the Zeiss RWDF periscope.

They are also made of different types of rubber
