Yes agree concerning the case. Over-restored by a long shot. Fantasy stenciling and semi-gloss "deluxe" lacquer option applied to wooden inserts ... ouch!
But the bino itself (meaning externals) is 100% original and in much better shape than usually encountered. Even the missing rubber head rest would not really be a deal breaker for me if I was in the market for an original 10 x 80 - 20 degree. (Even though I might want to hide the case ...)

I didn´t like the markings on the case either. But did something like them exist ? Or are MD right, they are pure fantasy ?
(none of the boxes I have are marked at all. Most likely repainted the lot of them)
I do not recall having seen the markings on top of the binoculars either. ( I haven´t checked on the internet.)Last edited by Mikedenmark; 03-14-2017, 07:46 AM.

If someone does not do so beforehand I will post details of what the markings on a Zeiss 10 x 80 - 20 degree case should look like in the next couple of days when I return home.
There were some variations with at least one maker and the cases it issued. The cases which were made by Ducati (mlr) in Italy for the sought after 10 x 80 - 20 degree during WWII were marked differently from Zeiss (and from memory the case was constructed differently). I was happy when my good friend Martin (a fellow WAF forum member) offered me a Zeiss 10 x 80 - 20 case to house my mlr 10 x 80 - 20 degree bino - even though the case was not strictly "correct". I (x 100) LOVE cases and accessories. But that is another story.
I am not sure that I have ever seen any case made by eug which also made 10 x 80 - 20 degree binos.

Sgt Bilko. LRG markings are known. I haven´t seen the Sch(einwerfer?) markings before.
Michael Downey. Are the metal boxes stamped, (if so, where?) or do they only have painted codes?
I checked and I have 6 boxes, a couple with original inner markings, but apart from one, all has been repainted on the outside. The last one may be orig. german navy grey.

Zeiss 10 x 80 - 20 degree and 18 x 80 - 20 degree bino cases were only issued with a plaque with serial number inscribed as per Sgt Bilko's post.
mlr cases much different. will post in a day or two if someone does not do so sooner.Last edited by Michael Downey; 03-14-2017, 10:27 AM.

Below are a few scans of markings on Zeiss, blc and mlr 10 x 80 - 20 degree cases. The case below has two ink stamps inside the lid (Zeiss commercial logo + KM property mark) and plaque (held by 4 x screws) detailing among other things the serial number of the bino.

Same markings for the blc 18 x 80 - 20 degree case. This is my case, but I cannot remember whether there is also a KM property stamp inside the lid (but I think it has).

The word Pendelkasten was new to me.
I was wondering if the boxes were made at a different metal work factory and had codes punched in somewhere. After all, a fairly large steel pressing machine is needed to manufacture them. I suppose someone has to clean down the exterieurs of a box completely to check it. I would expect the markings to be close to the lower edge at either end.

The interior of the mlr case is quite different in many respects from the Zeiss case. I assume that the case was made in Italy (as were the mlr marked 10 x 80 - 20 degree binos).
I am not aware that the metal cases were code stamped by the factory who made them, but who knows as I have never examined my cases in minute detail.
