Leather case for 6X24 Marine ?

    Hello,
Got this leather case and I'd like to know if this one might be for a 6X24 pair of marineglass ?
Obviously, the case is smaller than a standard one and a "M" is stamped on the top. Any idea ?
    Many thanks, Pierre

Unusual - the case itself (particularly the spring latch) looks WW2 ish but 6x24 German Navy binoculars are usually from WW1.

I think it may be of immediately postwar 1945 manufacture.

The closure with the attached strap to the spring latch is a wartime design, seen on wartime plasticized cases.
The material also look like a WWII wartime material.

So, either a late war replacement case for an older bino, or a postwar ditto.

I doubt the M means navy. It looks pretty deeply embossed, so, if there had been either an eagle or a pre war Anchor above it, it should be visible, at least to a degree. The general nice condition of the case sort of disprove it should have been worn off/down.

So, what I am guessing is, early postwar manufacture. And very nice, regardless.

          Thank you guys, really appreciated

I thought that 6X24 were also in use (and made) during WW2. So they are only made in WW1 ? I found some paires in fleamarkets with WW2 stuff and this is why I always thought they were made pre or in the beginning of the second war.

@ Mike, no anchor for sure. If post war, do you have an idea for which binoculars it might be ? Because german army continued to use the 6X30 after the war...
          Many thanks

You're right - 6x24 (and a lot of other oddballs) were used in WW2 but, after the late 1930's (when the 6x30 began to be made in huge numbers) these others were no longer deemed official issue and there'd be no need for a smaller case.

            Here's a thread that touches on the use of smaller Dienstglas (and the officially issued case for them);

              Thank you Sgt Bilko
Maybe before any speculations, I have to try if a pair of 6X24 would fit the case.
              Anyways, thank you
