    Unknow beh Ernst Leitz Wetzlar 15cm

    Hello from Austria,

    a friend from Bavaria sent me pics from this unknown parts ... maybe we can help him ... I only could find in the web:
    beh = Ernst Leitz Wetzlar and so maybe this are 2 parts from an optical device?

    Outer Diameter of the ring is 15cm

    thank you for your help and best regards

      Looks like measurement gauges for a 15 cm bore cannon.

      Or anything else, that is 15 cm with tight dimensions tolerances.
      Could also be for checking brass 15 cm shell cases.

      If I am correct, then the outer surfaces will be part of a sphere ?

      They are either part of a optical measurement system, or simpler go - nogo-gauges.

      I think Zeissasembi showed us a photo of such measuring in another thread recently.

        Thank you Mikedenmark for your post and opinions about this parts!

        I thought because the manufacturer Leitz Wetzlar (beh) it must be part of an optical device!?

        My search will go on and I will ask for better pictures from the side.

        Best regards

          Many firms made things they weren't normally associated with during the war (on all sides).

          Here's another, though different beh 15cm marked item for an air tight munitions container;

            Thank you Sgt. Bilko for the link!

            In my opinion the part isn´t marked with beh ... like in the description it is a "15CM SMOKE SHELL CARRYING CANISTER" and the "Beh" in the german language means Container = Behälter "Luftd. Mun. Beh. 4644"

            Best regards

              Yes you're right - my mistake. Here's a better picture which I wished I'd seen;
