    Dienstglas 6 x 30 498776

    [IMG][/IMG]
Hi all. Thanks for adding me. A quick brief...I buy mainly Crystal and Antiques at auction, it is a hobby, and on occasion I get some interesting pieces in the lots. These are the second pair of binoculars I have found in the last couple of months along with another German Pin. I know zero about this kind of item and would really appreciate your comments and knowledge on these binoculars. They are Dienstglas 6 x30, 498776 H/6400 this is on the right. On the left is bmj KF. There is a Circle off to the left of the KF that does not look to be part of the numbers but I mentioned it for accuracy. It has a Bakelite type cover for the eye Pieces. I did read some of the threads on here but it just got more confusing the more I read. Having trouble getting my photos on so will see how that works and put them up as soon as possible. Thank you all

bmj is the WWII military factory code for Hensoldt.

KF means kältefett, grease for freezing temperatures. The german army had problems in Russia because even their grease froze solid.
Kältefett will work at lower temperatures, and the moving part of this bino is greased with it.

The blue circle means it can be used at freezing temperatures. ( green circle is for tropic use Red circle is western Europa temperatures.)
H/6400 refer to the reticle in the right side. It divides the horizon into 6400 pieces.
Meaning something that is 1 meter long, or high, and 1 kilometer away, will measure one division.
If a soldier (2m) fills 4 divisions, then you know, he is 500 meter away.

So, it looks like a nice german army WWII 6x30 Dienstglas. (service Binocular)
For prices, if that is an issue, look to ebay.com, or ebay.de. Take a look at sold items to estimate price level.

I could not ask for more than that mikedenmark! Very impressed. Thank you. Not a bad little extra in the lot then. I do sell most of what I buy on strict orders from the wife haha. Regards Pete
